Ed has over 30 years of diverse business experience with companies ranging in size from start-up to over $330 million in revenues.  He began his career in magazine publishing, serving 12 years with M. Shanken Communications, the publisher of Wine Spectator and Cigar Aficionado, along with other trade magazines.  He mastered skills in all areas of accounting, circulation, advertising, and digital media.

Ed’s career transitioned when he relocated his family to Orlando, accepting a position with a PEO in their outsourcing division as the controller for a large Miami based broker-dealer for three years.  Following that he was the VP of Finance and Operations for a benefits administration company.  His accomplishments included writing the first comprehensive disaster recovery plan, completion of a new employee manual and converting the existing outdated operations system to an outsourced web-based model that offered employee self-service.

Later as controller and director of financial reporting for a large multimedia company based in Orlando, Ed directed a $220 million acquisition of several Time, Inc. entities.  He managed a 33-person accounting department, led multiple system conversions and created and managed the budgets and forecasts for the TV/Video department and 29 print and digital magazines.

Over the last six years Ed was the controller/CFO for a meat processing manufacturer and a sand and silica mining and dredging manufacturer.  He created and managed budgets for dozens of locations and accelerated the year-end audit fieldwork by two months.

Ed’s excellent interpersonal skills allow him to understand problems and collaborate with others to resolve them quickly.  He has written SOPs for several companies, designed cost templates to improve profit margins, managed multiple accounting system conversions and created comprehensive variance analyses for balance sheet and P&L review.

Ed currently resides in Orlando, FL with his wife and four children.  He is the proud father of a Seminole and a Knight, making for lively dinner conversations.
