Amber Hornsby is the co-founder of ESTHER Homes, a maternity home established in 2015 in the Twin Cities, MN, to support pregnant women facing crisis situations. With a degree in Social Work and more than 20 years of experience in human resources and service work, both locally and internationally, Amber brings a unique blend of strategic leadership, operational expertise and compassionate care to the maternity housing field. Her background equips her to engage effectively across diverse cultures and complex life circumstances, balancing relational support with strong administrative and organizational systems. Amber’s leadership at ESTHER Homes extends far beyond traditional operations. From the program’s inception, she moved into the home alongside the first two resident families and has continued to live on-site, providing consistent, day-to-day mentorship and support. Through this immersive model, Amber has gained firsthand experience navigating resident care, boundaries, policies, staffing and sustainability within a maternity home setting. She is deeply committed to individualized care, actively researching and securing resources tailored to each woman’s unique needs. Amber is passionate about seeing mothers experience healing, growth and transformation as well as helping maternity homes operate with excellence while maintaining the heart of their mission. In addition to her work at ESTHER Homes, Amber served as a leader in the National Maternity Housing Coalition from 2017 to 2024 an affinity group under Heartbeat International. She is currently a member of the National Christian Housing Community [2024 to Present] and serves on the planning committee for the National Christian Housing Conference
